BIRDY

Birdy was born on May 15, 1996 in Lymington, England. His father is the writer Rupert Oliver Benjamin van den Bogaerde. His mother is the pianist Sophie Patricia Roper-Curzon.4 From this marriage, in 1995, also born Jake and Caitlin. Birdy grew up on the family farm, located near Lymington.

 

Birdy learned to play the piano at age seven. At eight he began writing his own songs. As of 2013 Birdy studying at Brockenhurst College.

 

His stage name comes from the nickname her parents gave her when she was a baby. When she ate, she opened and closed his mouth like a bird. Both her family and her friends call Birdy. Only teachers use their real name: Jasmine Lucilla

 

In 2008, at age 12, Birdy won the British musical talent contest Open Mic UK, a spinoff of the Live and Unsigned music competition. He won both the category under eighteen years as the Grand Prix against ten thousand competitors.

 

In January 2011, when he was 14, Birdy released a version of the song Skinny Love by Bon Iver. The song became her first hit in the UK Singles Chart, reaching 17th place.
